Arts picks in Westchester: Amy Helm performance, José Limón Dance Company, Alexander Rutsch

FRI, FEB. 26: Exclusive Concert: Amy Helm
Emelin Theatre will present a recorded performance by singer-songwriter Amy Helm this Friday. Helm will perform a mix of Americana, country, blues and gospel music, all of which was recorded exclusively for the Emelin. Begins at 8pm. Purchase tickets here.
SAT, FEB. 27: Virtual Watch Party: José Limón Dance Company
This Saturday, the Performing Arts Center at Purchase College will host a virtual screening of a performance by the José Limón Dance Company (LDC). The program will include Suite Donuts, a contemporary work by choreographer Chafin Seymour, as well as two of the Company’s pieces, The Moor’s Pavane and There is a Time. The screening will be followed by a live Q&A with Dante Puleio, Artistic Director of LDC, and dancers from the company. Begins at 7pm. purchase tickets here.
SAT, FEB. 27: Lagond Music School Presents A Virtual Performance Series
Lagond Music School’s new virtual performance series, “Flip the Stage,” will present a Saturday performance by Charlie Lagond, who will be joined by Dave Anderson, Nicky Barbato, Josh Dion and Jon Swift. The performers will play funk, swing and rock. Begins at 7pm.
WED, MARCH 3: Wellness Wednesday: Guided Meditation via Zoom
Neuberger Museum of Art continues its Wellness wednesday series with a virtual guided meditation via Zoom next Wednesday. Meditation and yoga instructor Janelle Berger will help participants renew their mind, body and spirit. The session will begin with a meditation, followed by a community Q&A and conversation. Begins at 1pm.
THURS, MARCH 4: A Virtual Celebration of Poetry and Art
Next Thursday, ArtsWestchester will host a virtual event that celebrates poetry and art. Westchester poets, including County Poet Laureate B.K. Fischer, Youth Poet Laureate Danielle Kohn and acclaimed writer Iain Haley Pollock, will speak to their experiences of poetry and art during the pandemic. Click here to register. Begins at 7pm. Beginning next Thursday, March 4, Kenise Barnes Fine Art Gallery in Larchmont will present a pop-up exhibition of paintings and bronze sculptures by Alexander Rutsch (1916-1997). Approximately 45 works spanning several decades of the artist’s career have been selected from the Alexander Rutsch Estate. The exhibition will remain on view at the gallery on select dates through March 14 from 11am-5pm daily.
