Pelham-owned business provides a link in global mask-supply chain

In March of 2020, the increased demand for masks had the Westchester County Association reaching out to manufacturers for support. One of these was Ball Chain Manufacturing, a company owned by Pelham resident Bill Taubner.

Ball Chain Manufacturing agreed to source masks, but it wanted to make sure that the quality would be held to a high standard. At the time, masks and other PPE products were marketed as providing a safe, high-filtration efficiency, when this was not the case. BCM chose to supply Powecom-brand KN95 masks, due to the credibility of the product. The masks are manufactured in Guangzhou, China.

In early April 2020, BCM opened up the website Bona Fide Masks. This division of Ball Chain specializes in shipping the Powecom KN95 Respirator Mask and also sells other PPE and sanitation products.

In an interview, faculty at one nearby college credited Bona Fide Masks with allowing them to return safely to school. In addition, the company provided discounted masks for firefighters battling the Washington wildfires and has donated 5,000 masks to victims.

“This has been one of the most rewarding business experiences in our history,” according to a company statement.
