Pelham Market is back and bustling with activity

The Pelham Market returned this weekend for the first time in 2021, now at a new location on Michael Schwerner Way.

Several food vendors and businesses were set up with tents along the street, including a Westchester Burger truck selling food on the premises. The event was lively and successful, with people bustling about from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m..

“It is amazing that we are finally opening back up,” said Marielys Quezada, owner of Freshly Made, which had a stand at the market. “It is nice to experience some sort of normalcy.” Quezada’s stand sold fresh juice and taught customers about health and nutrition.

Next to Quezada’s stand was an open section of the street where kids could grab chalk to color on the sidewalk in front of the food truck. By 1 p.m., the sidewalk was full of colorful drawings.

“Being back at the Pelham Market feels very normal and natural,” said Jessica Solomon, owner of Little Bird Cookie Co. “I am so happy we are getting the opportunity to come back after getting through the worst of it.”

Solomon was grateful to see friends and customers returning to support her business now that she is back at the market, and she plans to continue to attend as frequently as possible.

The market will be held at the same location every Sunday through Oct. 24 with varied vendors and food trucks.
