Town, American Legion to hold Memorial Day ceremonies following motorcade procession

To the editor:

It is with pleasure that I confirm that the Town of Pelham and Pelham Post 50 will hold the annual Memorial Day ceremonies on Monday at 12 noon at Veterans Park (across from DeCicco & Sons Market).

There will be no parade this year, but we will be holding a motorcade from the Manor Club, proceeding along the usual parade route down Esplanade to Wolfs Lane and then down Fifth Avenue to Veterans Park.

All Pelham organizations are cordially invited to join in the motorcade, which will kick off at 11:30 a.m. As requested by town officials and the Pelham Manor and Pelham police departments, the motorcade will observe all traffic rules and regulations.

We are pleased to announce that Robert “Bob” LaGravinese, owner of LaGravinese Jewelry for 57 years and proud Korean War veteran, will be this year’s grand marshal.

LaGravinese credits his success and popularity to his life philosophy, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. That’s my secret. That’s what you should always do.”

And we are equally pleased to report that the Honorable Terry Clements, Pelham’s representative on the Westchester Board of Legislators, will be our keynote speaker.

Clements is a dedicated member of the New Rochelle and larger Westchester community. She is an educator at Columbus Elementary School, member and former president of the Lions Club, member of Jack and Jill of America and the American Federation of Teachers, to name just a few.

She is serving her second term as county legislator and has truly earned the respect of all the diverse members of her community.

We look forward to seeing you on Memorial Day as we honor all the men and women who have given their lives for our country!

Joseph Durnin

Past Commander
