An Uber driver was stabbed twice in the chest by one of five passengers he picked up at New Roc City the afternoon of July 2, following a verbal and physical dispute with two female juvenile passengers, according to the New Rochelle Police Department.

Shortly after the pick up, a verbal dispute started between the driver and one female juvenile, then became physical when the driver tried to discharge the passengers near North Avenue and Huguenot Street, at which point another female juvenile stabbed the driver, police said.

The driver was transported to Jacobi Hospital where the injuries were ruled non-life-threatening.

The five passengers took off, but were caught by police. Two adult passengers were allegedly found in possession of illegal handguns, one of which was a “ghost gun” with no serial number and a high-capacity magazine, police said.

Omar Gaines, 18 years of age, of the Bronx was allegedly in possession of a 9mm Keltec handgun and charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, police said.

David Owens, 20 years of age, of the Bronx was allegedly in possession of a model P80 “ghost gun” loaded with a 33-round high-capacity magazine and was charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree and unlawful possession of certain feeding devices (high-capacity magazine), police said.

Two juvenile females were charged with assault and must return to family court.

The remaining male party was released as he was not involved in the crime.
