Caroline Spana, Charlotte Howard and William Shelton, recent Rotary Club of the Pelhams scholarship recipients, were honored Wednesday during the club’s meeting at Rockwells Restaurant.

Pelham Memorial High School Principal Mark Berkowitz was inducted as a new Rotary member at the same meeting.

The Rotary scholarship is awarded annually to a PMHS senior.

Spana, winner of this year’s scholarship, will be attending Villanova University, where she plans to major in business and information systems.

Howard was the 2020 scholarship recipient and has completed her first year at Boston University, where she is majoring in journalism and psychology. She was the executive editor of the Pelham Examiner from July 2019 to July 2020.

Shelton received the 2018 award. He is attending Vanderbilt University, where he is majoring in physics and is a member of a jazz combo.

The Rotary Club scholarship was $10,000 until this year, when it was increased to $12,000. It is paid in annual installments to the winners. The funds are raised by donations made by Rotarians and members of the community. Donations may be made at pelhamrotary.com.
