Editor’s note: This press release was provided by the Village of Pelham Sustainability Advisory Board.

The Village of Pelham Sustainability Advisory Board and Climate Smart Communities Task Force is pleased to announce the launch of Pelham Healthy Yards!

All interested Pelhamites are invited to attend the first Pelham Healthy Yards meet-up on Sunday October 10th, 4-5:30 pm, at 464 Esplanade, Pelham.

Pelham Healthy Yards will provide information and resources for residents, landscapers, businesses, community organizations, and municipalities to shift from conventional land care practices that may be harmful to our environment, to healthier and more sustainable practices.

Pelham Healthy Yards encourages and supports grassroots activities and educational outreach in our neighborhoods and in our community.

Healthy Yards encourages Pelham residents to take simple steps toward practices that contribute to a healthier environment. These include:

• Go Electric • Preserve Trees

• Plant Natives • Go Chemical-Free

We invite community members to explore and enjoy creative possibilities and innovative practices that benefit the environment, pollinators, and our well-being by limiting the use of gas-powered equipment, pesticides and herbicides, and by preserving trees and planting native species.

Village residents who take the Healthy Yard Pledge and take steps towards a healthy yard, will receive a Pelham Healthy Yards medallion yard sign.

For more information, visit us at the VoP SAB/CSCTF table on Sundays at the Pelham Market, or email us at [email protected]. Sign up for our Healthy Yards mailing list and find the Pelham Healthy Yards pledge here:  https://cutt.ly/takethepelhampledge
