Olympic bronze medalist Kate Douglass visits PMHS and PMS with gift

Olympic bronze medalist Kate Douglass visited Pelham Middle School and Pelham Memorial High School on Wednesday, displaying her medal and giving the schools one of her Olympic swim caps.

Members of the fall sports teams along with school administrators stood around Douglass and her family as they presented the cap in a frame.

“It’s awesome to see you all here, still supporting me,” said Douglass.

Douglass, who graduated from PMHS in 2018, won bronze at the Tokyo Olympics in the 200 individual medley with a then-personal best time of 2:09.04 and was an NCAA champion last season with the University of Virginia women’s swim and dive team.

She is a junior at UVA and has already begun the collegiate swimming season with impressive results. She was a 2020 and 2021 All American.

“We appreciate all the support from Pelham and the school,” said Allison Douglass, Kate’s mother.
