Three PMHS students sing with All-State Chorus in Rochester

Three students from Pelham Memorial High School attended All-State Chorus in Rochester and sang with some of the best in New York State.

Katy Lange, Allison Lange and Oliver Tam were picked. They learned seven songs and sang them during a concert at the Eastman Music School at the end of three days of rehearsing. The longest day of rehearsals was eight hours with a couple breaks.

“It was refreshing,” said Allison Lange. “You don’t often get to sing with the best of the best.”

Every year, about 900 students are selected to be part of the New York State School Music Association Conference All-State music groups, of which the chorus is one. Students must be recommended by the director of their high school music program. They also must perform a level six solo in the spring event and score above a 98 for their solo.

“I would highly recommend doing it to anyone who is interested in chorus,” said Katy Lange.
