Nancy Alice Gillooly Mirra

September 11, 1931- December 10, 2021

Lifelong resident of Pelham died peacefully at the Wartburg Nursing Home on December 10, 2021.

Born in Pelham, NY to Francis and Eleanor Gillooly, Nancy was the 2nd of three children. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend. Nancy was the all time “Pelham Mom” to all that knew her and went to Hutchinson School. Family and friends meant the world to her. She was often called the”Mayor of Pelham”, the CEO of the 3rd floor at the Wartburg and along with her sisters the “Golden Girls of Pelham” She attended her beloved Hutchinson School, Pelham High School and Our Lady of Victory Business School. Nancy married Ralph Mirra in 1956 in Pelham where they worked and raised their family. She is predeceased by her husband, sisters Eleanor Defillipo and Maureen Campanelli.

Nancy was the secretary of Hutchinson Elementary School in Pelham for over 20 years – and held that in her heart so proud. As one of her students just wrote, “Mrs. Mirra’s gentle, quiet authority influenced so many students at Hutch. Her spirit truly lives in our souls. In her kind touch she signaled to her students that Hutch was a welcoming place, that education was attainable, that we could make mistakes and learn and succeed . We will never forget Mrs. Mirra.”

Nancy spent the last 9 years at the Wartburg Nursing Home. The love and caring she received there was immeasurable and her family is forever grateful.
Nancy is survived by her three children, Ralph (Laurie Mahoney) Tom (Nereida) and Maureen Kakos (Michael) 7 grand children, 10 great grandchildren, cousins, many nieces and nephews and caring friends.

A celebration of Nancy’s life will be held at Pelham Funeral Home located at 64 Lincoln Ave, Pelham, NY on Tuesday, December 14th, 2021 from 4:00-8:00pm. A mass of Christian burial will take place at St. Catherine’s Church, Located at 25 Second Ave, Pelham, NY on Wednesday, December 15th, 2021 at 10:00am.
