PMHS shot putter Shelton wins Con Edison Athlete of the Week, heads to states
PMHS senior Thomas Shelton won the Con Edison Athlete of the Week award for his performance in the shot put.
Shelton has had a dominant season, sweeping every meet that he has participated in. Last week, he won the state qualifying meet with a throw of 50 feet and 11 inches.
He will throw in the state championship on Saturday.
“Being presented with this award is truly an honor, and I’m extremely grateful for all the help from coaches and staff that I’ve gotten along the way,” Shelton said. “I’m very excited to compete at states and hope that I can perform well enough to make our school and town proud.”
The Con Ed award is prestigious and won, at best, by one Pelham athlete a year.
