Village of Pelham Manor board adopts property tax exemption for veterans
The Village of Pelham Manor Board of Trustees Feb. 28 passed a local law that increases exemptions for veterans paying property taxes.
Mayor Jennifer Monachino Lapey said the board was taking a step similar to other municipalities in Westchester County.
A public hearing was held on the law and closed a minute later when no one spoke. The board voted unanimously to pass the law, as Lapey said, “in recognition of tremendous service.”
Trustee Maurice Owen-Michaane said he recognized Pelham hosts many veterans and families of veterans. “Passing the local law is the least we can do for all their service and sacrifice,” said Owen-Michaane.
