Father Lawrence Quinn – April 8

Father Lawrence Quinn of Bronx, New York, passed away on April 8th 2022. He was 76 years old. Born in the Bronx to Lawrence John Quinn and Mary Gallagher, Father Quinn was one of three children. Father Quinn was raised in the Bronx where he attended Saint Margaret Mary Grammar School and Cathedral College before being ordained by Terence Cardinal Cooke from from St. Josephs Seminary in 1971.

Father Quinn’s first parish was St. John Vianney Parish. He was appointed Pastor of Our Lady of Victory and then Our Lady of Mercy all in the Bronx. Following Our Lady of Mercy Father Quinn was appointed Pastor of Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Mount Vernon.

Father Quinn loved to travel and visit different country’s, especially Ireland. He was an active member of the Charismatic and Cursillo movements. He taught in many adult faith formation programs throughout the Archdiocese and was a gifted retreat master.

He will be remembered as caring, giving and passionate about his faith. He was a priest for the people, spending most of his life in ministry to the Hispanic community.

Father Quinn is survived by his sister Winifred Dever, his niece Kelly Dever, his nephew Daniel Belford, his Aunt Cathleen Sullivan and numerous cousins, great nephews, nieces as well as his caring and loyal godsons, Eric Rosa, Martin Martinez and Frankie Fajar. Father Quinn will be missed by everyone who knew him. He is predeceased by his parents Mary and Lawrence Quinn and his sister Peggy Anne Quinn.

A celebration of Father Quinn’s life will take place at the Pelham Funeral Home located at 64 Lincoln Avenue, Pelham New York on Tuesday, April 12th 2022 from 3-7pm. There will be a viewing of Father Quinns remains at Holy Family Church located at 83 Clove Road, New Rochelle, New York on Wednesday April 13th at 9:30am. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow the viewing at Holy Family Church at 10:30am. Interment will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
