Diana Levine – April 20

Diana Pizilly Levine, 87, passed away peacefully in her home in Boynton Beach, Florida on Wednesday, April 20, 2022, surrounded by her family. Diana was born in Ithaca, NY on September 28, 1934, to Franz and Marguerite Pizilly. Diana attended Ithaca High School and Cornell University before meeting Henry Martin Levine (Hank). She was a Technical Librarian and he an Engineer when they met while both working for Burns and Roe Inc. in NYC. They were married in 1957 and had been married 53 years at the time of his passing.

While Diana had a way of making any house a home, it was in Pelham, NY that she and Hank chose to spend much of their lives raising their large family.

There were three things you could count on at 65 Harmon, 1. The door was always open. 2. There was always a seat at the table, and 3. There was always enough for everyone. To know Diana was to know kindness, compassion, and generosity. An avid supporter of both the Fresh Air Fund and the AFS Exchange Program, Diana and Hank opened their home and their hearts to many young people who came to stay with them over the years, many of whom remained in their lives over the last several decades. Diana and Hank used 65 Harmon to provide solace to so many, while asking so little in return.

Diana was a business owner and pillar of the community in Pelham NY, a pioneer in the field of digital typesetting with a storefront first on 5th Avenue and then on Wolf’s Lane. She was involved along with Hank in Westchester County and New York State politics, and remained actively involved in her community, donating generously of her time and business.

In 1991 Diana and Hank moved to Boynton Beach, FL where Diana became the Production Manager for the publishing company one of her long-time clients. Diana remained dedicated to her work until only days before she passed.

Diana is survived by her seven children: Leslie Ann Levine of Woodland Hills, CA, Jackie Carbone of Yorktown Heights, NY, Alyssa Bernstein Bastin of Athens, OH, Nan Greenlay Krezel of Naperville, IL, Josh Levine of Patchogue, NY, Jake Levine of Port Jefferson Station, NY, and Toby Levine of Boynton Beach, FL, her seven grandchildren, her 3 great-grandchildren, and her younger brother Franz Pizilly of San Francisco, CA.

Diana was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Martin Levine (Hank), 2010 and her sister Lavinia Pizilly Person, 1997.

It is the family’s hope that Diana be remembered as the hard-working, loving mother, loyal, unselfish friend, and esteemed, respected colleague that she was. At her request and in honor of her final wishes, the immediate family will honor her life in a private memorial.

Contributions in Diana’s memory can be made in lieu of flowers to the Fresh Air Fund of New York City.
