Pelhamites support Mohan, Miller, Wood for board of education to guide schools
To the editor:
We are lucky to have three amazing candidates running for the Pelham school board this year: Theresa Mohan, Eileen Miller and Paula Wood.
We are writing to share our unconditional support for Theresa, Eileen and Paula and to ask all Pelham residents to please join us in voting for them on Tuesday.
Theresa is an experienced attorney, former Village of Pelham trustee and a longtime PTA and nonprofit volunteer. Two of her children are Pelham Memorial High School graduates and her two youngest are now first-year students at PMHS. Her skills, depth of knowledge and experience of our community, of government and of board governance will make her an invaluable member of the board.
Paula worked at Bank Street College of Education, helped drum up community support for the new Hutchinson Elementary School and initiated and nurtured Hutchinson’s highly praised enrichment program. She has worked on several school board committees and is currently on the board of two local nonprofits, the Pelham Art Center and the Pelham Music Festival. Paula is deeply committed to the work of improving our schools for the good of all.
Eileen served on the board of education from 2018 to 2021. She is an active community volunteer, having served on the boards of the Pelham Education Foundation and Friends of Pelham Public Library and is in close touch with the needs of Pelham’s young people in her work at Pelham Together. As a former school board member, she is ready to hit the ground running.
All three are well-equipped with the skills, knowledge and temperament needed to work collaboratively with and help guide Pelham schools’ administration, students and staff through the recovery from the pandemic and into the future.
Often overlooked, school board elections are not as sleepy as they once were. Every vote counts, so please make sure to vote and remind friends and family to vote too!
Please join us in voting for Theresa Mohan, Eileen Miller and Paula Wood for Pelham school board on Tuesday.

Thank you for this wonderful letter! Just want to clarify that I did not initiate the Hutchinson Enrichment program – it was a long-standing tradition when I joined PTA. I took on the leadership at a time when not many people were available. I worked hard to expand and improve it, with easier online registration and wider variety of classes. But it was begun by parents many years before I arrived in Pelham, and we owe them – whoever they are – a huge debt of gratitude for setting up an amazing program!
