‘Harnesses the Wind’ cooking demo Thursday from Junior League

Editor’s note: This press release was provided by the Junior League of Pelham. The Pelham Examiner publishes press releases in the form received as a service to the community.

Come join us on Thursday, May 19th at 6pm for a Malawi cooking demo. Peris Wanjuki-Miringa will be showing us how to make Nsima, the traditional dish that William speaks about in “The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind.” This is a zoom event so you can cook along with us at home!

It’s free but please register in advance at https://tinyurl.com/4f8u6e46 Our high school students will also be competing by making traditional Malawian food for our panel of judges. They will be competing for donations to their favorite charities as well as a cash prize sponsored by Pelham Chamber of Commerce. Come find out who the winners are! In conjunction with this event, there is also a food drive to combat hunger in our community.

Please consider donating these foods at your school by dropping them in the boxes labeled “Pelham Harnesses the Wind:” Cereal, small bags of rice, pasta and pasta sauce, canned tuna, small jars of peanut butter
