Pelham hockey player to represent East Coast in Brick Hockey Tournament
Ford Fairback, a ten-year-old from Pelham, recently qualified for the Brick Hockey Tournament.
Fairback is no stranger to competition. He currently plays on the number one team in the country for his age group, the Mid Fairfield Jr. Rangers Club Team. Fairback will use this experience on the ice at the Brick Hockey Tournament, and hopefully he and his team will be able to score the East Coast a win.
The Brick Hockey Tournament has been around since 1990, and is one of the most prestigious hockey tournaments in the country. About 90 of its players have gone on to be drafted into the NHL. This year, it will be held from June 27 to July 3.
After a grueling one-year tryout process, Fairback was the only player to be selected from lower NY to represent the New York, Connecticut, and New Jersey region. Fairback’s team, the Connecticut Jr. Rangers, consists of 15 players.
The Connecticut Jr. Rangers are scheduled to play three games, two of which will be against Canadian teams, and may commence to play more depending on whether they win. The Brick Tournament includes seven regional teams from the US. and seven from Canada.
