Pelham 10U Little League team captures second straight District 21 Championship

Pelham’s 10U Little League team captured its second straight District 21 Championship by defeating the Hillcrest (Yonkers) Lakers two games to none in the three game series.

By scoring a combined 23 runs in its victories, Pelham was able to jump out in front in both games behind clutch hitting and strong pitching. The defense prevented Hillcrest from getting any significant run production.

Led by Head Coach Greg Silver and Assistant Coaches Phil DeCandido and Lee Khan, the team will now move onto the sectional phase of the tournament, where they will play powerhouse teams from Staten Island, Manhattan and the Bronx.

“These kids, many of whom have been playing together for nearly two years, went out after just finishing their spring rec and travel seasons and took down a very accomplished Hillcrest team,” said Matt Maron, Pelham Little League board member. “We are immensely proud of them. And it’s only the beginning.”
