Myrtle Prisco – Oct. 1

Myrtle Prisco passed away peacefully in her Pelham home on October 1, 2022, at the age of 97. She was born in 1924, the tenth of eleven children, to Catherine Eisch and Joseph Landwehr of Seymour, Wisconsin. While growing up on their dairy farm, Myrtle attended Plainview Elementary School, which was a one-room school house. After graduating, she moved with her family into the town of Seymour. As a student of Seymour High School, Myrtle was a member of the Taste and Baste Club.

Following the completion of business school, Myrtle moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin. At the historic Eagles Club, she met her future husband, “Doc,” a student attending the Marquette University School of Dentistry. They married on October 12, 1946, moved to the Bronx, New York, and established a dental practice. In 1955 they built a home in Pelham, where they remained as lifelong residents.

Myrtle is survived by her beloved husband of nearly 76 years, Dr. Angelo Eugene Prisco, their three sons and two daughters: Joseph and his wife Hannele, Eugene and his wife Jeanne, Michael and his wife Annika, Penelope Hulbert and her husband Robert, Cassandra Fiore and her husband Stanley. Twelve grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and a huge extended family survive Myrtle as well.

Myrtle will always be cherished as the devoted homemaker, famous for her delicious German cookies and apple pies; the proud receptionist, with the big magnifying glass, in her son Michael’s orthodontic office; a devout Catholic with a strong faith in God; and an avid fan of her children’s sports and her husband’s softball team, the Molars.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, located at 575 Fowler Ave., Pelham Manor, New York on Monday, October 10th at 10:00 AM.

Those wishing to make a donation in Myrtle’s memory may consider the Dominican Nuns of Corpus Christi Monastery, located at 1230 Lafayette Avenue, Bronx, NY 10474.
