Mary Petraglia – Nov. 8

Mary Petraglia of Bronxville, New York, passed away on November 8, 2022. She was 100 years old. Born in New York, New York, to Angelo and Anna Derrico, Mary was one of five children. Mary graduated from James Monroe High School, and she earned her bachelor’s degree at Hunter College. After college, she worked at Catholic Charities. Mary met the love of her life, Thomas, when they were both children attending the same wedding. The couple would marry and move to Pelham, where they raised their three children, Frank, Angelo, and Anne.

When Mary’s children were raised, she re-entered the workforce, working as a bookkeeper for the NYC Board of Education. Mary had a strong work ethic and loved her job.

Mary will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and wonderful friend. She will be dearly missed; however, her family finds comfort in the many treasured memories she leaves behind.

Mary is survived by her three children, Frank (& Susan) Petraglia, Angelo (& Jessica) Petraglia, and Anne (& Steven) Sommer, her seven grandchildren Justin (& Traci) Petraglia, Christopher (& Dayna) Petraglia, Gabrielle (& Jacob) Brennan, Piper Petraglia, Indigo Petraglia, Thomas Sommer, Jarett Sommer, and six greatgrandchildren, Harlan & Willem Brennan, Colton & Madelyn Petraglia, Franco & Giovanni Petraglia. Mary is also survived by her sister, Vicenza (Joseph) Sudano, sister-in-law Sylvia Derrico along with dozens of nieces and nephews.

Mary is predeceased by her husband, Thomas, her brother, Dr Nicholas Derrico, and her two sisters, Anna Derrico and Frances (Louis) Morino.

A Celebration of Mary’s life will take place at the Pelham Funeral Home located at 64 Lincoln Avenue, Pelham, NY on Sunday November 13, 2022, between the hours of 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Immaculate Conception Church, located at 53 Winter Hill Road, Tuckahoe NY on Monday November 14th at 10:30am.
