Josephine Pavone – Dec. 12


Josephine Pavone of New Rochelle, New York, passed away on Monday, December 12th, 2022. She was 93 years old. Born in Cambridge, Massachusetts on February 1, 1929 to Raphael and Carmella D’Amore, Josephine was one of eight children. Josephine was a graduate of New Rochelle High School. She would later meet her husband, Anthony, while working at Sanborn Map Company. The couple would marry and move to Mount Vernon and then to New Rochelle where they raised their three children.

Josephine, a devout Catholic and parishioner of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Pelham, NY, was a selfless humanitarian who enjoyed serving others. Josephine volunteered her time at Jefferson Elementary School, and at St. Gabriel’s Food Pantry in New Rochelle, NY. Josephine enjoyed traveling, spending time with friends and family, watching soap operas, baking, cooking and sharing traditional recipes with her loved ones.

Josephine will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. All who knew her were touched by her warmth, generosity, and kind heart. She will truly be missed and never forgotten.

Josephine is survived by her children, Anthony (Anne) Pavone and Patricia (John) McDonald her son in law, Ottavio Clarizio. She will be missed by her grandchildren, Jennifer (David), Aimee (Anthony), Christina (Alfred) Melissa (Michael), Laura, and Samantha. She will also be missed by her seven great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her husband, Anthony and her daughter, Jo Ann Clarizio.

A celebration of Josephine’s life will take place at the Pelham Funeral Home located at 64 Lincoln Ave., Pelham NY on Thursday December 15, 2022, between the hours of 4:00 PM and 8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Our Lady of Perpetual Help located at 559 Pelham Manor Rd, Pelham, NY 10803, on Friday December 16, 2022, at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Beechwoods Cemetery, located at 179 Beechwood Ave, New Rochelle, NY 10801.
