PMHS varsity rugby defeats Cape Pirates 48-5 during Florida trip

The PMHS varsity rugby team defeated the Cape Pirates Rugby Club in Cocoa Beach, Florida, 48-5, despite only having four seniors playing because others couldn’t make the trip during winter break.

Man of the match was captain Michael Sample.

“We had mostly juniors and sophomores, but played the varsity side of Cape Pirates,” said Coach Matt Persanis. “Others who had a good game were Erik Fontanella, and getting their first starts or playing significant time for the team were sophomores John Mullan, Hew Johnson, John McGrory, Nicholas Madeira, Paul McLoughlan and Greg McFarland.”
