23 years behind the wheel of the truck Pelham’s kids look out for
She’s the woman at all the soccer games. At the corner after school. The one who gives out ice cream. Almost everyone in town knows her and her truck.
Her name is Nancy Romm. She’s got a great personality, and she sells ice cream. What’s not to love? On a hot day when Pelhamites are looking for a cold, delicious, treat, Romm is the one with her truck right outside a school or at a playing field.
She didn’t always have a ice cream truck. She had a different job before she bought the truck from someone else.
“I’ve been driving the truck for 23 years.” said Romm, who was born and raised in Washington Heights in Manhattan.
She said she enjoys the work and loves seeing the kids at each stop. “It makes my day,” Romm said.
Romm loves ice cream herself and even “tests” it all before she sells it.
