Pelham falls to Skaneateles 4-1, takes second in state ice hockey championships

Pelham ice hockey fell to Skaneateles on Sunday with a score of 4-1. The Pelicans put up a fight, leaving Skaneateles scoreless in the third period.

Junior Santino Esposito was able to slot in a goal late into the second period, but a tough Skaneateles defense proved enough to edge the win over the Pelicans. Pelham sophomore Reid Finster and junior Griffin Evans were named in the All-Tournament starting five, scoring an impressive 4 goals combined.

Despite the loss, the season can’t be called a disappointment. The Pelicans entered the season doubted by many, and ended as the Division II New York State second place title holders. With a young squad, staggering potential, and a strong program, there’s no counting this Pelham team out for years to come.
