Garrido-Carmody backed for school trustee because of leadership, strategic thinking

To the editor:

I write this letter with great enthusiasm to endorse Connie Garrido-Carmody’s candidacy for the Pelham Board of Education. I had the privilege of working with Connie for over two decades, and I can attest to her exceptional leadership, team-building skills and work ethic.

She is a strong, accomplished leader with an unwavering sense of ethics and fairness. I first met Connie when she was director of OOH Media at Ogilvy & Mather in 1998. Her ability to manage budgets, negotiate effectively and drive win-win solutions to problems was remarkable. Over the years I watched as Connie’s contributions to the advertising industry were recognized and led her to various leadership positions, including president of Mindshare’s Wow Factory, chief strategy officer at Kinetic, chief executive officer of Posterscope and co-founder of EnPlay Media.

Connie has been a role model for me over the course of my career. Her mentorship and guidance have had a huge impact on my career trajectory. I often seek her advice, whether it is of a business or personal nature. I trust her implicitly and feel fortunate to know her and have her in my life. I am confident the town will feel the same way if we elect her to the board of education.

Even more important than her many professional skills, Connie is a kind and compassionate person. As a working mother, I have faced many challenges in balancing work and personal life, and Connie has always been willing to lend a listening ear and offer guidance, both professionally and personally. She manages to do this in addition to her own parent and work obligations, not to mention her numerous volunteer activities in town.

In the strongest possible terms, I recommend Connie for the position of a trustee on the Pelham Board of Education. Her exceptional leadership style, strategic thinking and ability to bring out the best in people make her an excellent candidate for the role. I am confident that she will be an asset to the board and will help positively shape the future of Pelham’s education system for years to come.
