Last night, Fire Captain DeSimone, Firefighter Borsella along with Police Sergeant Hendrie, Police Officer Baerga, Police Officer Burrell and Paramedic Orpikowski received a life-saving award from the Westchester REMSCO (Regional EMS Council).

Last June, the above police officers, firefighters and paramedics responded to a report of an unconscious male. Upon arrival, it was determined the patient was suffering from an overdose. Village of Pelham police officers administered a dose of Narcan. Upon Village of Pelham Fire Department arrival, the patient still was suffering from snoring respirations and was not responsive. Fire department members administered another dose of Narcan and began ventilating the patient.

Upon the arrival of 38Medic1 (the Town of Pelham EMS flycar), the patient became conscious and was talking. Fire department members assisted 38Medic1 staff in establishing advanced life support procedures for transport to the hospital.

We are happy to report that the patient fully recovered and is doing well due to the collaborative efforts of everyone above.
