May 2023 – Bronxville and Pelham, NY – The Picture House Regional Film Center (www.thepicturehouse.org) announced today a one-afternoon-only screening of the film Loren & Rose, followed by a Q&A with iconic actress Jacqueline Bisset. On Sunday, June 25, audiences will have the rare opportunity to be in conversation with one of the most successful and in-demand actresses of her generation.
British actress Jacqueline Bisset’s long and successful career began in the 1960s and took off with films like Bullitt (1968), Airport (1970), Murder on the Orient Express (1974), The Deep (1977), and The Greek Tycoon (1978). Films like François Truffaut’s Day for Night (1973), George Cukor’s Rich and Famous (1981), and John Huston’s Under the Volcano (1983) revealed her talent for intelligent, complex performances. Bisset has remained active and in demand, playing a wide range of parts from stalwart mothers to seductive socialites. What has remained constant throughout her four-decade career is her cool elegance, which has preserved her iconic status as one of the screen’s great international beauties. She is a multiple time Golden Globe nominee and a César Award nominee.
In Loren & Rose, Bisset plays Rose, a legendary actress trying to revive her career. Loren, played by newcomer Kelly Blatz, is a promising filmmaker. Over the course of their many encounters, a deep friendship evolves as their love of art, understanding of grief, and faith in life’s potential guide them through personal and creative transformations. Bisset and Blatz star with a chemistry that is at once authentic and intoxicating.
Clayton Bushong, Acting Executive Director and Director of Programming at The Picture House said “This is a truly singular and exciting chance to hear from an actress who has been part of some of the best films ever made and worked with some of the all-time great filmmakers. And at 78-years-old, Jacqueline Bisset is still turning in tour-de-force performances, like the extraordinary one she gives in Loren & Rose. TPH is greatly looking forward to sharing this special afternoon with our film-loving audience.”
Loren & Rose screens on Sunday, June 25 at 1:00 pm at The Picture House Bronxville.
