Historic Manor Club unveils new TMC logo, begins annual membership drive

The historic Manor Club in Pelham Manor has unveiled a new TMC logo as it kicks off its 2018-2019 membership drive, according to a press release from the club.

“The heart of TMC is its members who hail from Pelham, Pelham Manor, other Westchester communities, City Island and the Bronx,” said President Alice Dean in the release. “A strong sense of community and shared interests are what binds our members together.”

The rest of the press release follows:

TMC (The Manor Club) traces its history to 1913 when a group of women rescued the club and its building from a men’s organization that was struggling financially. By 1922 the women cleared its debt and raised sufficient funds to build a new clubhouse.

Now, men and women are welcome to join an organization that meets in a building that is registered as a historic landmark and is a community center in the Town of Pelham. Dues and donations are tax deductible.

TMC is a center for music, cultural and historical interests as well as for live theater. Notable speakers on a variety of topics, historical and contemporary, in upcoming weeks will include MSNBC/NBC Correspondent Beth Fouhy, New Rochelle Commissioner of Development Luiz Aragon, a representative for Pets for Vets and Pelham’s Dr. Bill Jacobs speaking about the tuberculosis and herpes vaccines.

The TMC Holiday Boutique open to the public is scheduled for the weekend of Nov. 2-4.

TMC members attend three Broadway matinees during the season (orchestra seats and bus transportation is arranged) or can sign up for Day Trips to a museum or garden or other interesting spot. TMC also has book clubs and art exhibits. Wine tastings are also planned as well as poker nights.

“Giving Back” is important to TMC members, whether it is collecting relief supplies after the hurricane in Puerto Rico or sponsoring a program with The Arc Westchester to train young women to serve as wait staff at Tuesday lunches.

TMC’s 300+ seat theater is home for concerts, plays, and amateur theatricals by TMC members or by outside groups. TMC hosts SOOP Theater Company that sponsors productions and workshops for children.
