Seven PMHS teams produce athletes of the week; includes slide show

Seniors Lucy Conway, Madelyn Dunbar, Henry Driesen, Grace Miske, Zach Leonard, Simon Keough, Stephan Akichy, Alison Emery, Nora Tahbaz, Kristina Roksvold, Sidney Skop, Charlotte Edmunds and Harry Ravitz and sophomore Carlo Volpe were named PMHS Athletes of the Week.

Conway and Dunbar showed outstanding leadership and have had strong performances for the Field Hockey team during the Pelicans’ strong start to the season.

Driesen, running for the cross country team, has gone undefeated for his four years at Twin Lakes Park in Eastchester while Miske won her last race over Eastchester and has been Pelham’s top finisher in each race this year.

Starring for the boys’ soccer team, Leonard recorded five saves in a shut-out win over Lincoln, Keough scored one goal each in wins over Lincoln and Lakeland while Akichy scored a goal vs. Lincoln and had an assist against Lakeland.

Emery, a 2-year captain and 4-year starter for the girls’ soccer team dominated Ardsley with 5 goals in the Pelicans’ 6-1 victory.

Playing for the volleyball team, Tahbaz recorded 21 kills and 4 aces in the team’s two wins over Yorktown and Eastchester while Roksvold had 45 assists and 6 aces in the two wins.

Skop and Edmunds had an outstanding come from behind victory in the tennis team’s match vs. John Jay. After losing the first set in a tie-breaker, the pair came back to win the second set 6-4 and then won the third set tie-breaker 10-8.

In the football team’s 41-12 win over Long Island Lutheran, Ravitz had 6 receptions for 60 yards and a touchdown while recording 3.5 tackles on defense. Volpe completed 7 of 14 passes for 260 yards and 3 touchdowns.
