The Pelham community of all faiths gathered at Christ Church Monday night for the Pelham Interfaith Council Thanksgiving Service led by clergy from the houses of worship.
The Rev. Matthew Mead of Christ Church (Episcopal), noting “We are in a moment of crisis and war,” called for prayers for Jews and Muslims in the Holy Land. He also called for the end of anti-semitism world-wide and urged prayers for peace, for the release of the hostages in Gaza, for the victims of hatred and abuse everywhere and “for the middle school and high school students who experienced a bomb threat—even though a hoax—in Pelham today.”
Also speaking at the service were Msgr. Thomas Petrillo of Our Lady of Perpetual Help-St. Catharine’s Church (Roman Catholic), Rabbi Benjamin Resnick of Pelham Jewish Center and Rev. Dr. Paul Seelman of Huguenot Memorial Church (Presbyterian). Introduced as the new interim pastor at Community Church of the Pelhams (Unitarian) was Dr. Lillian Reynolds.
The service included hymns sung by the congregation and music by the Pelham Larks and members of the Christ Church choir, all accompanied by Christ Church organist Jeffry Hoffman.
