(November 20, 2023 – Pelham, NY) Those who can, do. And those who can do more, volunteer.
On October 27th at the Surf Club in New Rochelle the Pelham community came out to the Pelham Civic Association’s Annual Gala & Fundraiser to honor three humanitarians who have volunteered their time, effort and talents in enhancing the quality of life in Pelham: longtime Pelham residents Joe Benefico, and Cindy & Bobby Courtien. They also celebrated and supported the year-long programs of the Pelham Civics – one of New York State’s most active volunteer, charitable organizations. This award-winning Association is dedicated to assisting the youth, the elderly, the financially needy, and the mentally and physically challenged.
According to Pelham Civic Fall Gala Chair Maurice Owen-Michaane, “The fundraiser was a huge success as all of our programs, projects and events were fueled with the generosity of our supporters. These programs, essential to the fabric of the Pelham community, range from support services for the disadvantaged to enhancing the opportunities of our students with tutoring, scholarship awards and career workshops… and much more. The funds raised ensures us that we can continue to make a tangible difference in the lives of the individuals and families of Pelham.”
The festive evening featured, live entertainment, a gourmet dinner, a silent auction with items donated by local businesses, and a celebration of the remarkable honorees. Pelham President Michael Ming continued, “I am extremely appreciative of our hard-working membership, and proud to be a part of this remarkable event as we honored our well-deserved recipients of Persons of the Year: Joe, Cindy and Bobby !”
