April 2024 – Bronxville and Pelham, NY – The Picture House Regional Film Center announced today that the Westchester Italian Film Festival will take place the weekend of May 17-19, 2024, in partnership with the Italian American Forum. Opening night, at The Picture House Bronxville, will begin with a dessert reception before a screening of Alejandro Monteverde’s Cabrini and a special in person Q&A with actress Eugenia Forteza.
“The Picture House is thrilled to host once again the Westchester Italian Film Festival,” said Clayton Bushong, Executive Director, The Picture House Regional Film Center. “Over the course of three days, the festival will showcase sixty years of Italian film. From a contemporary gem like Cabrini to a timeless classic such as the 1961 comedy Divorce Italian Style, we have curated an exceptional lineup of films and discussion aimed at engaging and enriching our audiences.”
“The Italian American Forum is proud to partner with The Picture House to bring new and old films to enrich Westchester’s cultural scene,” said Anna Malafronte, Executive Director, Italian American Forum. “This year’s lineup showcases Italian excellence with modern academy nominated and internationally renowned films such as Io Capitano and Cabrini while bringing a nostalgic tone with our favorite classics.”
In addition to Cabrini, highlights of the weekend include an advance screening and Westchester premiere of Marco Bellocchio’s Kidnapped; as well as screenings of Academy-Award Nominated for Best International Film (Italy’s submission) Io Capitano; America’s Last Little Italy: The Hill with a Pre-taped Q&A with Director Joseph Puleo; and a tribute to Italian Comedies like Johnny Stecchino, Pane e cioccolata, and Divorce Italian Style with special discussion led by TPH Film Critic Joe Neumaier.
