The 25-year Pelham performance tradition that is the Huguenot Cabaret will take place again Saturday at the Manor Club in its historic theater.
The women of the Presbyterian church created the tradition as a fundraiser. Proceeds go to the Huguenot Memorial Church, helping to support the many community-based programs offered there, such as Thanksgiving in a Box, the Christmas tree sale, youth mission trips, Hope Soup Kitchen and midnight runs.
A wide range of musical genres will be presented at the event, including rock bands, acoustic groups and soloists. Songs from Broadway and the Great American Songbook, professional soloists from Huguenot Church and a women’s number are to be included in the fundraiser.
“All of the performers are volunteer. Many are members of the Huguenot Church, but just as many are our friends and neighbors who generously donate hours of time to practice and get ready for this big event,” said Dana Thayer, member of the cabaret coordinating committee.
The sound team is led by Bob Rendon of PRG.
“There is a volunteer cabaret committee that includes chairs for the production of the show, the food, silent auction, publicity, volunteer recruitment for the day of the show, publicity and an overall coordinator for the entire event,” said Thayer. “We are lucky to have the teenaged children of many of the performers and participants to volunteer that night to check in guests, serve appetizers, run the spotlights and much more.”
In addition to the music on the program, every year the audience gets a surprise performer. Former graduate of Manhattan School of Music and Pelham Memorial High School alumni Andrew O’Brien sung “You’ll be Back” from “Hamilton” at the 2023 cabaret.
