My condolences to the family on their loss… Mrs. Babuska was one of many wonderful people that were staples in what was (to me) the early days of Pelham. I remember her well from when I first started driving… if I was crossing Lincoln and 3rd at the right time of day then Mrs. Babuska would be there, dressed impeccably, doing her job professionally, and always smiling. Unless, of course, you did something even remotely unsafe… then she would make a little grimace or wag her finger at you, and you knew you had messed up. She had that old-school way about her… she wouldn’t scold you harshly, and it wasn’t like you were afraid of getting in trouble, it was more like you didn’t want to ever disappoint her again. After a few times I started waving hello, and she would of course smile and wave back. Her kind ways would brighten anyone’s day.
God bless her… God bless the family… And may she rest in peace.
