Single Day Holiday Camps at The Picture house
October 2024 – January 2025
Thursday October 3rd: Music Video Production
Become a pop star or hotshot Hollywood director in our music video making class. We’ll tune into some classics and new favorite videos before creating our own! Young songwriters and musicians are encouraged to bring in their original work for the group to film!
Monday October 14th: Intro to Animation Class
Paint The Picture House red with a day devoted to the history of animation. We’ll screen clips from TV and film going back a hundred years, from hand-drawn to stop motion, CGI and beyond! Drawing on what they’ve learned, students will be able to create their own stop motion or hand drawn exercises. Color me impressed.
Friday November 8th: Silent Comedy
What more can be said about silent comedy? This workshop will touch on the greatest works of Buster Keaton, Charlie Chaplin, Harold Lloyd and others. Then students will try their hands at recreating (the safest and easiest!!) moments of slapstick choreography before creating their own black and white silent short.
Monday November 11th: Acting 101
Are you ready for your closeup? In this workshop, students will discuss their favorite actors and what goes into crafting a great performance, whether it be in a drama, comedy, fantasy or any other genre! After screening clips from various classics, new and old (and all family friendly), each student will be given a scene to rehearse and perform for the group.
Monday January 20th: Superhero Cinema
Go up, up, and away with us as we watch and discuss the history of superheroes on film, from the earliest Superman serials to the MCU and beyond! We’ll touch on everyone’s favorite caped characters and what makes them tick before students will create their own original superhero and shoot a trailer for tomorrow’s biggest blockbuster!
Wednesday January 29th: Sketch Comedy
Live from Bronxville, it’s Wednesday afternoon! Students will be encouraged to bring their favorite short form comedy videos to screen and discuss. After the group learns how to craft a tightly scripted video to maximize laughs, they’ll be able to write and star in their very own.
