Shore Park is beloved by our community. This past weekend, Eagle Scout Candidate Julian Matteoni completed his community service project at Shore Park. Julian recognized that Shore Park could benefit from bike racks, so he designed his project around fulfilling this enhancement! Two bike racks are now featured at the entrance to Shore Park. He also wanted to promote the importance of cleaning up after your dog, and properly disposing of pet waste in a refuse receptacle. He obtained signs reminding park-goers to clean up after their pet and installed them throughout the park. These are two very thoughtful resources provided through Julian’s project.
This effort pairs nicely with previous Eagle Scout projects that have taken place at Shore Park. Village Officials and operations staff have also been pursuing ways to keep Shore Park a valuable resource. Most recently, through effective advocacy and communication with Westchester County, we were able to secure a painted crosswalk across Shore Road from Shoreview Circle to the park entrance, pictured below. The Village Manager has also been tasked with facilitating an improvement to the restroom facilities.
