As you may be aware, residential burglaries and stolen vehicles are trending in our region. The Pelham Manor Police Department (PMPD) is vigilantly strategizing to combat these crimes. PMPD works closely with the Westchester County Real Time Crime unit on this matter. In addition to participating in Drivers of Violence Enforcement (DOVE) details organized by Westchester County Police Department, PMPD is strategically utilizing in-house resources.
We strongly urge residents to stay attentive as well. If your home has a garage, prioritizing its use for vehicle storage is encouraged. All vehicle owners should bring their keys and fobs inside, and may want to consider a designated safe storage place for them. Review your home utilizing this Home Security Checklist provided by the National Crime Prevention Council and make adjustments where possible. It is also a good idea to speak with your alarm company to familiarize yourself with how alarms are configured. It is important to understand who will be the first phone call when the alarm company receives a notification.
Residents should program the Pelham Manor Police Desk phone number, 914-738-1000, into their cellphones in case of an emergency. Given our geographic region, calling 911 works best from a landline phone. Please feel free to reach out to the PMPD if you have any questions.
