Pelham Memorial High School’s Class of 1974 will hold its 50th reunion next month. All members of the class and their friends are invited to a series of events scheduled for Friday, October 11 to Sunday, October 13.
The main event of the reunion weekend is a buffet dinner to be held at 7:00 PM on Saturday, October 12 at the New York Athletic Club, at Travers Island, 31 Shore Road in Pelham. Classmates and their friends will dine, reminisce, and dance to the music of Chris Brown and his band. Tickets are $170 per attendee, though former teachers from PMHS will be admitted at no charge. Other events scheduled for the reunion weekend include an informal dinner and drinks beginning at 7:00 PM on Friday, October 11 at Rockwells American Restaurant, at 105 Wolf’s Lane in Pelham; and a tour of PMHS at 10:30 AM on Saturday, October 12, followed by a brief ceremony to remember the 30 classmates who have passed since graduation. The remembrance ceremony will be held on the PMHS campus at the cherry tree donated by the Class of 1974 ten years ago on the occasion of its 40th Reunion. Following the remembrance ceremony, classmates and their friends are invited to an open house at the home of the Hayes Family, at 107 Ancon Avenue in Pelham, for light snacks and refreshments. A brunch will be provided to classmates and their guests at 10:30 AM on Sunday, October 13, at the home of Candy and Manny Louros, at 37 Anpell Drive in Scarsdale.
Getting the Class of 1974 together to celebrate 50 years after its graduation has been a bit of a challenge. “We have a great team of a dozen classmates who’ve tracked down two-thirds of our class of about 240,” said Davis Stowell, one of the reunion organizers. “We expect a good turnout, especially since we’ve invited members of other classes who remember us, and also a number of people who went to school with us but transferred from Pelham schools prior to graduation. I’ve enjoyed catching up with many of them by email and look forward to seeing them in person next month.
