FRI. NOV. 2 THROUGH SUN. NOV. 11: Yonkers Film Festival

Yonkers Film Festival (YoFiFest) presents its sixth annual celebration of film, from this Friday through November 11. There will be screenings of more than 150 independent movies, including shorts, comedies, dramas, documentaries, animation, music videos and student work. Festival activities include hands-on workshops, after parties, networking events and Q&As. An ArtsWestchester Arts Deal offers a discount on festival passes. Times vary.

SAT. NOV. 3: A Talk with Brick Hunters of the Hudson Valley

This Saturday, ArtsWestchester will host a “Brick Hunters Talk and Brick Swap” in conjunction with its ongoing Brick by Brick exhibition. This talk will feature the region’s leading brick hunters and collectors, who will tell stories of discovery and adventure along the Hudson River. Audience members are encouraged to bring their own “brick stories” and marked bricks (up to seven per person) to share and swap. This event is for those who love New York State history, genealogy, archaeology, folklore and bricks. All are welcome. Begins at 3pm.

SAT. NOV. 3 THROUGH NOV. 17: New Play Looks at Effects of Chemical Toxicity

This Saturday through November 17, Axial Theatre will present Senescence, a new play by the Theatre’s founding artistic director, Howard Meyer. This compelling play, directed by award-winning filmmaker and director James Fauvell, takes a stark look at the harmful effects of chemical toxicity on the environment, as well as its potential repercussions. Preview performances will also take place on November 2 and 3. Dates and times vary.

SUN, NOV. 4: Soprano Julia Bullock

This Sunday, Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts will present a performance by soprano Julia Bullock. The performance will showcase Bullock’s versatile range of vocal ability, delving into opera, jazz and more. Bullock, a winner at the 2014 Naumburg International Vocal Competition, will be accompanied by John Arida on the piano. Begins at 3pm.

MON, NOV. 5: Gallerists Discuss Gallery Representation

On Monday, Hudson Valley MOCA invites audiences to “Artists in the Marketplace,” a conversation on the do’s and don’ts of approaching galleries with artwork. Through a panel discussion, three gallerists will offer firsthand insights into the representation process, detailing their own experiences with contemporary art on Manhattan’s Lower East Side. This program will be followed by a Q&A session. Begins at 6:30pm.
