Longtime Pelham resident, Chris Gallagher, is being inducted into The Bronx Basketball Hall of Fame on November 7, 2024 at the Villa Barone in the Bronx. He is part of the third class to be inducted following other Bronx notables such as Nate Archibald, Dolph Shayes, Richie Guerin, Rod Strickland, Rickie Sobers, and Jamal Mashburn.
The mainstay on the powerhouse 1964 and 1965 Monsignor Scanlan High School basketball teams, Chris was a unanimous First Team CHSAA All New York City and All City CHSAA Championship Tournament selection, one of the heaviest recruited players ever to come out of the Bronx, ranked as the best player in the New York Metropolitan Area after Kareem Abdul Jabbar, and the initial inductee into the Monsignor Scanlan High School Hall of Fame.
Chris is an honors graduate from Harvard where he was an All Ivy and All New England, and Harvard and New England Hall of Fame, basketball player. Chris also tried out with the Philadelphia 76’ers and played professional basketball in Switzerland in its top division. He received his law degree from the University of Pennsylvania Law School and practiced securities and mergers and acquisitions law with Skadden, Arps before founding his merchant banking firm.
Most notably and important, Chris has spent a life dedicated to helping others, especially helping children get a quality education and attend college. He has provided thousands of children with life-changing opportunities and has had leadership roles in many other organizations helping our youth and those in need.

The Induction Ceremony is being held on Thursday, November 7, 2024, from 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM at Villa Barone Manor 737 Throggs Neck Expressway, Bronx, NY 10465. Buffet Cocktail Hour, Open bar, Dinner. Ample parking is available. People often arrive at 6 PM and doors to the banquet hall open at 6:30 PM.
