Hello neighbors,
My name is Krystal Howell, and I am running for Trustee of the Village of Pelham, a place where three generations of my family have proudly called home. The Village of Pelham holds a special place in my heart. It is here where I met my husband in high school while working at DeCicco’s. It is here where we decided to lay down roots and raise our amazing twins who have recently graduated from Pelham Memorial High School and are now on their collegiate journey.
I am a proud graduate of the University of Maryland, College Park (Go Terps!) with a BS in Accounting. Since then, I obtained certifications in Public Accounting, Project Management and Gas Distribution. I also bring a wealth of experience from the consulting and financial services space. I have 20 years of experience in the energy sector leading diverse teams in Financial, Planning, & Analysis, Supply Chain/Procurement, Information Technology, diversity councils, project management and construction management.
In addition to my current role as Construction Manager at the largest investor-owned public utility, I also serve as an instructor at my company teaching financial topics to both new and seasoned employees. I also have the privilege of participating on various leadership and mentorship committees to help grow a future generation of leaders.
In Pelham, I continue directing my energy and experience in various capacities. I was actively involved on several PTAs including the Hutchison and Pelham Middle School PTAs and most recently as the PTA Council (PTAC) President. I also served on the Pelham Together Diversity Committee, was a Democratic District Leader and selected to serve on the Village of Pelham Steering Committee on Police Reform. I worked collectively with Pelham school district leaders and fellow neighbors on the Cultural Competency Committee, collaborated with leadership post-COVID to implement a free math tutoring program at the high school and supported various Pelham Athletics’ varsity programs. My love for Pelham and the people and families here runs deep.
I lead with three core principles: respect, empathy, and action. I will apply my depth of knowledge and experience along with these guiding principles in the Trustee role. Through this lens, I will help lead the Village of Pelham’s infrastructure and storm resiliency improvements, support our amazing local businesses, and create more inclusive spaces to bring all members of this wonderful community together all while exercising fiscal responsibility.
As a proud descendant of civil rights leader Septima Poinsette Clark, who was dubbed “The Mother of the Movement,” servant leadership is woven into my DNA. I am seeking your support to continue this legacy and further enhance this great place we all call home.
I love talking to people and would be happy to share my ideas with you and listen to your feedback. You can find me browsing the booths at the farmer’s market, walking the neighborhood with my fur baby (Mr. B.), or enjoying meals with my husband at some of Pelham’s amazing restaurants. Should we not cross paths in the coming weeks, I have provided my email so that you may contact me with any comments, questions, or concerns that you would like to see addressed. I look forward to seeing everyone around town and at the polls this November. #Pelhamstrong!
Gratefully yours,
Krystal M. Howell
