Update November 15, 2024
Friedland Properties has notified the Village that the second phase sealing/striping will occur on Sunday, November 17, and will take place between the hours of 6:00am to 3:00pm. During this time, there will be limited on-site parking. Signs indicating parking restrictions will be posted on Saturday. There will be staff present at the site on Sunday to direct traffic.
Patrons who are looking to visit a business are encouraged to utilize street parking or, ideally, walk to the site. This is only one component of the recently approved site plan amendment. The other components, such as improved signage, lighting, and other smaller items, will likely be implemented with little disruption to patrons.
Original Post November 8, 2024
The repair, restoration, and subsequent improvement of the parking lot at the Friedland Properties site has been a journey following the June 2023 compromised private utility line. Around the one-year mark, the Village provided its most recent update to the community on June 9, 2024. Today, we write to communicate a timely development.
The parking lot is currently receiving a portion of the seal and stripe component of the amended site plan that was approved in May. The sealing efforts began this morning, and will continue through the weekend. This first phase of sealing/striping will only impact the front-most parking areas of the property abutting Pelhamdale Avenue and Boston Post Road. This section of the parking lot will reopen on Sunday. The property management company has representatives on-site to support their efforts.
Patrons of the shopping center are encouraged to utilize street parking on Pelhamdale Avenue, or utilize the parking lot on the eastern side of the property and walk along the sidewalk to their business of choice. If residents are utilizing street parking, we further encourage safe and proper street-crossing habits. Meaning, rather than crossing the roadway in the middle of traffic, walk up to the traffic light and marked crosswalk where the intersection is controlled. Please communicate this to younger members of your household whom do not receive these emails, but likely visit the shopping center.
The second phase of sealing/striping will take place in a few weeks as it is being coordinated with the interior renovations occurring at CVS. When the Village is notified of a more specific timeframe, we will communicate such. The other components of the site plan amendment will be implemented with minimal impact to patrons. We apologize for the short notice of this notification, and would have provided it in a more timely fashion if circumstances allowed. Thank you for everyone’s patience, understanding, and accommodations throughout this process. Residents should reach out to Village Hall with any questions, 914-738-8820.
