More Than 900 People Expected for the Pelham Half Marathon & 10K
50 for the First-Ever ‘1K Kids Fun Run’
The Pelham Civic Association’s annual races will be held on Saturday, November 30, Thanksgiving weekend. First organized with 13 runners in 2012, the 2024 event attracts runners from Pelham, the metro NYC area, and far beyond, including England, California, Florida, New Hampshire, Oregon, Washington, Virginia, and West Virginia.
New for 2024, the half marathon and 10K courses are certified with USA Track & Field, an important official credential for competitive runners and enthusiasts who want to qualify for major races. The races start and finish on Harmon Avenue next to the Gazebo and take runners through both Pelham villages, including Chester Park and Shore Park.
Also new this year is a “1K Kids Fun Run”, a non-competitive event for kids aged 6 to 12 on Harmon Avenue and Benedict Place.
Elected officials from the Town of Pelham, Village of Pelham Manor, and the Village of Pelham will once again be at the finish line to present all runners with finisher medals.
Volunteers are still needed, particularly Course Marshals who cheer on runners and guide them at intersections and turns in the races. Pelham students earn service hours, and families with younger children can be a big help as well.
Race proceeds benefit the Pelham Civic Association’s “Help a Child, Change a Life” program. This program provides need-worthy students in Pelham schools with learning support, skill enrichment experiences, and social support services to help them reach their full potential.
The 2024 Pelham Half Marathon and 10K are sponsored by HSS Westchester, DeCicco & Sons, Meridian Risk Management, LogoTags, Compass Realty, Kiami 411, Symmetry Physical Therapy, The Body Blueprint, and Mercedes of New Rochelle.
