“Pedestrian safety and responsibility are important issues that impact everyone in our community,” said Amanda Star and Meredith Phelan, Co-Presidents of the Junior League of Pelham. “By bringing everyone together we hope this Roundtable fosters meaningful conversations and collaborative solutions to help make Pelham’s streets safer for everyone.”
JLP’s Community Roundtable is an annual event organized by the Community Affairs Committee. The Roundtable started as a forum to address pressing issues in the community and how local non-profits could work together to create solutions. Prior topics were skill-based, such as marketing for nonprofits, and others were informational, such as the League’s new signature project. The Roundtable has evolved to include all members of the community, and the topic changes each year depending on current needs and interest. Recent roundtables have focused on sustainability, flooding issues, mental health, and downtown development.
The Roundtable is undertaken with a spirit of engagement and collaboration. Given recent incidents of pedestrian accidents in Pelham, this year’s discussion will aim to create more solutions and improvements to keep Pelhamites safe on our streets.
