Rotary Club of the Pelhams recognized Pelham Memorial High School seniors Jake Fellner and Cararose Vitale as Marilyn Stiefvater Scholars of the Month in November.
Jake Fellner, a National Merit Commended Scholar, is a mentorship student in the prestigious Regeneron Pharmaceuticals research program and is a member of six honor societies.He is a member of the Mamaroneck EMS team, the drummer and CFO of music group The Mellow Fellows and drummer of The Delay, as well as trombonist with the PMHS Marching and Jazz Bands. Jake is treasurer of the Medical Career Club and of twelfth grade Student Government. He is also a goalkeeper for the Varsity Soccer Team and is fluent in Spanish.
Cararose Vitale is a National Merit Semifinalist and a member of six honor societies. She has contributed to her community by volunteering at Camp Helping Hands, for Pelham Civics, and for Pelham Eliminates Plastics. She has also lent her talents as a photographer to Pelham Travel Soccer, the Boy Scouts, Pelham Little League, and the Pelham Half Marathon. Cararose is a member of the Creative Writing Club, Door Magazine, Robotics Club, Teen Artist Council, and Set Crew, and is the co-founder of the Juggling Club. She runs varsity cross country and spring track, plays the clarinet, and recently completed an internship, working for the Pelham Town Clerk’s office.
Also at the Nov. 20 Rotary club meeting, PMHS Principal Sean Llewellyn was inducted as a member of the Rotary Club of the Pelhams.
In addition to the Scholars of the Month program, the local Rotary club awards a $15,000 scholarship annually to a graduating PMHS senior in June.
