Archer Hands, a missing 18-year-old Pelham resident who is autistic, was found on a bus in the Bronx Thursday and is now with police and on the way home to his family.
According to a Facebook post by his mother, Cynthia Hands, Archer was “riding a bus when good people realized he needed help” and took him to the police.
“I just got a call from a PD in the Bronx,” said Hands in a 8:24 p.m. post in the Parents of Pelham Facebook group. “THEY HAVE ARCHER! The Henry Hudson PD are bringing Archer home right now. They said he was fine, and apparently had been riding a bus when good people realized he needed help, they took him to the PD. I heard Archer’s voice over the phone. Thank you everyone for the tremendous help and support, I cannot tell you how grateful I am.”
She signed off with, “Sending my love to all of Pelham. Cynthia.”
Hands had been missing since Thursday at 1 p.m. Police used K-9s in the effort to find him, and Pelham residents organized searches.
