PMHS seniors Sydney Paulose and Luca Goodyear were named Marilyn Stiefvater Rotary Scholars of the Month for March.
Sydney Paulose is a talented artist, who has exhibited work at the ArtsWestchester Gallery, the Pelham Art Center, and the Drawing Center in Soho. She is a member of five academic honor societies and an AP Scholar with Distinction. Sydney is a member of the Interact Club, the Women’s Empowerment Club, and the Environmental Science Club, and she is the Social Media Manager for Pelham Eliminates Plastics. Sydney is a member of the Varsity Tennis Team and has also run track and played lacrosse. She is a frequent volunteer, having lent her time and talents for Earth Day, Summerfest, and making blankets for the homeless. Sydney has also interned at the Pelham Art Center and for the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Luca Good earned top scores on six Advanced Placement exams, to date. He is a member of five academic honor societies and is an AP Scholar with Distinction. Luca was honored last year by the New York State Archives Student Research Awards for his research on Thurgood Marshall and has completed pre-college studies at Brown in the Leadership Institute for Equity in Education. Luca is a talented musician, playing percussion in the PMHS Concert and Jazz Bands as well as piano on his own time. He is the co-founder and president of the Entrepreneurship Club, the Pelham Engineering Clinic, the Young Democrats Club, and the Breast Cancer Awareness Club, and an editor for the literary magazine, DOOR. Luca is ranked fourth in the nation in the APTA 18 and under Paddle Tennis Division and also plays on the varsity soccer and tennis teams. He also does volunteer work and is an assistant coach for Town of Pelham Recreation.
In addition to recognizing PMHS Scholars of the Month during the school year, the local Rotary Club awards a scholarship to a graduating senior in June. This year’s scholarship will total $20,000. Applications for all PMHS seniors are available through the PMHS Guidance Department.
