April 2025 – Bronxville, NY – The Picture House Regional Film Center (TPH) is proud to present a special tribute to Gene Hackman with a Retrospective Film Club Series, celebrating the legendary actor’s remarkable five-decade career. Starting Monday, April 21, at 7:00 PM at The Picture House Bronxville, this four-week series will showcase some of Hackman’s most unforgettable performances, offering film lovers the opportunity to revisit his iconic roles on the big screen.
This exclusive series will be hosted by veteran film critic Joe Neumaier, the esteemed host of The Movie Minute on 710AM-WOR. With over 30 years of experience in the industry, Neumaier will lead dynamic and thought-provoking discussions after each screening, providing behind-the-scenes insights and exploring Hackman’s enduring impact on cinema.

Gene Hackman’s legacy as a Hollywood legend is defined by his intensity, versatility, and unforgettable performances that shaped modern cinema. Rising to fame with Bonnie and Clyde (1967), Hackman won two Academy Awards—Best Actor for The French Connection (1971), where he played the relentless Popeye Doyle, and Best Supporting Actor for Unforgiven (1992) as the ruthless sheriff Little Bill Daggett. Renowned for bringing depth and authenticity to every role, he starred in classics like The Conversation (1974), Superman (1978) as Lex Luthor, Hoosiers (1986), Mississippi Burning (1988), The Birdcage (1996), and The Royal Tenenbaums (2001). His final film, Welcome to Mooseport (2004), marked the close of a legendary career before he retired to focus on writing.
