PELHAM, NY Pelham Art Center is pleased to announce its annual Spring fundraiser, the Starry Night Gala, will take place on Friday, May 9. All proceeds from the event directly support Pelham Art Center’s operations, from youth and adult education to scholarships and public programs. The evening of dinner and dancing, interactive art installations, and auctions featuring original artwork, weekend getaways and other enriching experiences, will take place from 7-11pm at Glen Island Harbour Club in New Rochelle, NY.
Special entertainment this year includes tunes spun by award-winning DJ Stephen Byfield, a funky soul music experience combined with throwback jazz elegance by the pop cover band Bellatonic, and an interactive art installation by NYC-based multimedia artist Claudia Shi.
Live and silent auctions will offer a plethora of compelling items and experiences open for bidding. Local businesses and artisans contributing to the community art center’s fundraiser have the perk of gaining excellent exposure to an engaged and enthusiastic audience of arts lovers.
Gala Host Committee Co-Chair Fred Gallo reflected on the meaning of this year’s exciting theme, saying “I think ‘Starry Night’ sets an aspirational tone. We should all be reaching for the stars and celebrating the beauty that’s all around us. Even in the darkest skies there are faint hints of light from distant stars… The Pelham Art Center is like that in many ways, drawing families of Pelham into the center to celebrate the visual arts with its programming and exhibitions.”
The spring gala’s annual tradition of having local artists, designers, and creators interpret the theme of the event will also continue, with inventive tablescapes reflecting the Starry Night theme. Following a seated dinner amidst these inspirational tablescapes, party-goers are invited to round out the night with the free-flowing fun of dancing to music under the stars.
For parents with young children looking for childcare, local Pelham business DaniLee’s will be providing childcare services for the night in the form of a special event, “Starry Night Sleep-Under,” at their location. In addition to this event, they can also provide at-home care. Anyone with questions is welcome to email admin@danileeshelpinghands.org directly.
Host Committee Co-Chair and Pelham Art Center Board Chair Nancy Mazzei summarized the evening best: “Our theme, ‘Starry Night,’ for this year’s gala is a celebration of the senses! From our live band and DJ choices to our annual tablescape competition, auctions of gorgeous art and experiences, and the addition of a light-driven artist installation, Starry Night is the ultimate Pelham community art celebration. I invite anyone reading this to join us!”
In addition to co-chairs Nancy Mazzei and Fred Gallo, this year’s host committee includes Board President Rebecca Scott, Board Vice President Michele Westrick, Board Secretary Michelle Acosta, Paula McKeever, Jaime Wright, Nandini Anandu, Kristin Moore-Gantz, Christopher Dlutowski, Lilian Miller, Bridget Bettke and Kass Gray,
