Congratulations to Pelham Manor Eagle Scouts Julian Kalehoff and Hew Johnson!
Mayor Jennifer Lapey was delighted to attend the Court of Honor ceremony for Pelham Manor Eagle Scouts Julian Kalehoff and Matthew “Hew” Johnson. The Board of Trustees previously recognized Julian’s efforts to renovate the Shore Front Park bathroom with a proclamation issued in 2023. The Village is looking forward to presenting Hew with a proclamation at an upcoming meeting. Less than 6% of Scouts become Eagle Scouts, and the Village is incredibly thankful for Julian and Hew’s work, outlined below.
As noted in previous communications, Julian renovated Pelham Manor’s Shore Front Park restroom facilities, creating an amazing enhancement for park goers. Braving the summer heat over two weeks, Julian painted walls, trim, floors, and doors with refreshing shades of white and charcoal. He and other Scouts also cleaned the various ventilation inlets and disposed of their grates. He is thankful for the support and material contributions from Pelham Manor’s Department of Public Works and Village Manager Lindsey Luft and notes that the revitalized restroom facilities will welcome park visitors for years to come.
Hew Johnson beautified the outdoor side yard of the New Rochelle YMCA. Coordinating with Manor Tree Company to trim trees, he opened up the space at no cost to the YMCA. Additionally, he worked with Gun Hill Fence Company to install a second fence gate in the space for ease of access. This entrance allows the Pre-K program at the YMCA to use the space for outdoor activities. With the support of Larchmont Nursery, Hew planted a variety of flowers and bushes, while raising over $1,300 dollars for an outdoor picnic table. The renovated space serves as a place for the staff and community to relax and enjoy time outside and will have a lasting impact.
